  7. X2C is a language compiler that allows running dBASE/Fox/Clipper applications
  8. on virtually any hardware and operating system environment. X2C creates the `C'
  9. source code equivalent of the original dBASE application, and then compiles the
  10. C to produce an executable binary. The process uses a set of function libraries
  11. that map dBASE operations to the target environment. X2C includes those
  12. function libraries written in standard C for target environments, including
  13. XENIX, UNIX, and MS-DOS. Source code is available for function libraries. The
  14. developer can maintain or update applications in dBASE or work directly in `C.'
